Guys know what they want when they see it, and they have no problem letting the internet (or someone specific) know exactly how they feel.
But why do guys seem so desperately thirsty nowadays, especially online? Let’s talk more about this topic, as it’s certainly an interesting one.
Why Are Guys So Thirsty Nowadays?
Guys have been just as thirsty over the years, but what has changed has been their dynamics and being able to “showcase” this thirst so much easier.
If you feel like guys are now suddenly more thirsty now than they ever have been, then I can totally see where you’re coming from.
After all, it’s hard to go to any spot on the internet without some guy expressing his thirst for another girl, and it’s usually blatantly obvious.
So if guys have always been this thirsty, then what has changed? Let’s talk about some of the reasons why guys are so thirsty, and why this thirst appears to be at an all-time high.
1) It’s Naturally How Many Guys Are
This might not come as a shock to you, but there are a lot of guys who are very shallow. Being thirsty goes hand in hand with being shallow.
This is probably one of the biggest reasons as to why many guys are just so darn thirsty nowadays, it’s simply for the fact that it’s naturally how they are.
As I mentioned in the article about guys being so shallow, many guys are so shallow (as well as thirsty) because:
- Guys care much less about genuine connection.
- Guys are very judgmental and they know how to express themselves.
- They are visual creatures and put a big emphasis on physical appearance.
As I also noted in the article about guys being shallow, I also want to mention here that women can be just as shallow (as well as thirsty) or even more shallow than guys.
Guys just usually aren’t as good at hiding it (compared to women).
2) Guys Can Get Desperate
When you think about it, being thirsty is yet another way of openly appearing desperate, and it’s usually in front of a lot of people (especially online).
If a guy hasn’t been able to attract any women, or he has failed many times when it comes to dating, it’s easy to see where all of this released thirst might be coming from; desperation.
I also want to say that guys aren’t the only ones who can get desperate when it comes to dating and being thirsty; women are guilty of this too.
The biggest difference, at least from what I’ve noticed, is that men do it much more often than women, especially when it comes to being thirsty online.
Speaking of the internet, let’s talk about that as it’s a big reason as to why you see so many thirsty guys (and why you’ll most likely continue to keep seeing them).
3) The Thirst Traps Have Increased Significantly
Guys are so thirsty nowadays because thirst traps seem to be a huge part of their everyday lives. In fact, it’s very hard to ignore these thirst traps.
In case you didn’t know, a thirst trap is usually some type of flirty message or photo that’s posted on the internet. The goal of the post is to get others to comment and express their thirst.
When you think about it though, these types of thirst traps aren’t just found on the internet. Here is an example of quite a few common spots where a guy has to deal with these traps:
- Text messages.
- Other forms of messaging online.
- TikTok, especially with how popular it has become.
- Girls doing almost anything in order to gain fans and followers (only fans, anyone?).
And when you think about it, all of these spots with thirst traps can be found and easily accessed through the use of their smartphone.
It’s no wonder why so many people are starting to notice just how thirsty guys can be, and it’s mostly because there are currently more thirst traps than ever (and they are very hard to ignore).
How Do You Deal With A Thirsty Man?
While thirsty men seem to be appearing more and more, the good news is that they are pretty easy to deal with, and all you need to do is simply ignore them.
This is going to greatly depend on where you are, and how you are interacting with the thirsty man. Let’s talk more about ignoring him, as well as other possible and related solutions.
1) Ignore The Thirsty Man
If you need one of the best ways of dealing with a thirsty man? Then look no further than avoiding him as if he never said anything to you in the first place.
Guys who are thirsty can be similar to haters in some ways, but mostly for the fact that they hope to get a response from the girl to who they are giving attention.
If you are online, ignoring the thirsty man becomes pretty easy:
- Don’t like their comment.
- Don’t reply to them in any way, shape, or form.
- And simply move on with your life as if it never happened.
If the thirsty man keeps getting more desperate and desperate with his comments, don’t hesitate for a single second to block him, especially if he starts getting creepy.
2) Tell Him To Cut It Out
This might be a little bit more effort, but sometimes you just need to put the thirsty guy in his place and tell him to cut it out.
If this is online, it becomes a little bit easier and even better as well. By telling that one thirsty guy that you don’t approve of his tactics, means that you’ll “hopefully” see other guys not doing this as well.
If you’re in person or texting someone, once again, you need to be upfront with the guy and let him know that you don’t approve of that.
It might make you sound like the bad person in the scenario by being upfront with him, but if you don’t say anything, then there is a good chance that he will keep getting thirstier and thirstier.
About Thirsty Guys: Closing Words
It appears as if guys are becoming more thirsty than ever, but can you blame them when it comes to the number of thirst traps that they have to navigate through?
One more thing to consider is whether or not you should give a thirsty guy a chance. If you ask me, that is something that you’re going to have to decide based upon the guy.
The good news is that you know he really wants you, in case it wasn’t made clear enough by the number of comments he’s already thrown your way.
